Future improvements
At the testing of our final prototype our participants expressed that finding themselves in the art is interesting as well as the suspense of not knowing which painting they are in and then to see the connection is exciting. Seeing their faces in the painting did make participants feel a connection to the art.
Onr participant who was a part of our workshop did indicate that he had a much better experience finding himself in the art than placing his own image in the art. It encouraged him to look more closely at other artworks.
Our objective of this project is to help make connections between visitors to the art galleries form connections with artworks. Based on the feedback noted during testing (and as seen in the image below) indicates that users feel connected to the art based on their interaction. A connection however can be subjective to the individual and the type of connections may vary. It is positive to note that visitors who participated in the final prototype testing did form a connection with the art based on their interaction. One visitor filmed her interaction and another visitor took a photo to share with friends.
For future developments, a share feature should be considered and tested that allows visitors of art galleries to share their connection with those that are not present at the gallery at that time. A possible idea is presenting an optional post card at the end of the visit that captures the connections made between the visitor and art during their visit. This extends the social aspect of InsideArt beyond the physical location of an art gallery.
