Dungeon: Stars 1.3
Endless Mode! Level 5! New ships! This update turned out to be much bigger than I was expecting but it is all worth it! List of new and changed features are below:
Endless Mode
- A new mode separate from the story where you must fight waves of enemies in a true endless battle!
- Survive for as long as you can against increasingly difficult waves of enemies and bosses
- Get the highest score possible, tracked separately from your score in the campaign
New Level - Level 5
- Fight in the upper atmosphere of a planet
- Featuring new enemies, a new boss, and cool sequences
- Complete it without dying to unlock a new ship!
Boss 1 Reworked
- Now functions more like other large enemies; you must target its turret weak points.
- Once the four frontal turrets are down, it will behave differently, charging up a powerful laser and firing lots of missiles, but revealing a fifth weak spot in the process.
Boss 3 Rework
- Has a new attack and gets harder when you take out one of the turrets
New Ship - Quasar - An agile ship with quick and precise projectiles
- High damage but low spread
New Ship - Excalibur - The ship of an unexpected ally, focused on rapid fire
- Medium spread and average damage all around
New Ship - Nullifier - The ship of a sworn enemy, focused on damage and power
- High damage, penetrating projectiles, and strong AOE missiles, but the weakest shield in the game
Gunship Rework
- Removed Cluster Missile, replaced with Anti-Missile Drones.
- Reduced fire rate and damage of secondary fire. Speed is slightly faster.
Code Improvements and Optimizations
- Better code practices through Coroutines and Events
- Respawning and game over is handled better
- Reduced number of collisions so performance should be much better in large levels
- Optimized audio sfx so more sounds can play at once and you don't go deaf when 100 projectiles are on screen
- Updated Fungus so something may have broke
Other
- New enemies (You can see them in Endless Mode)
- New Level Select screen with unlockable levels
- New ships are locked but can be unlocked by achieving certain criteria
- Added a Pause Menu
- Added new music and sfx thanks to some cool asset packs
- Improved Game Summary screen
- Some balance changes: player ships are slightly smaller and faster, player projectiles are faster
- Tier system - Play as good as you can to get the highest Diamond rank!
- Hit effects when you hit an enemy
- New death animation - Your ship will fly out of control briefly before it explodes or hits something
- Summary screen looks different if you lose.
