Timber Volume Equations (Published by Forest Survey of India (FSI))

A digital compilation of timber volume equations published by Forest Survey of India (FSI), Dehradun, India in 1996. Equations were published in a book titled "Volume Equations for Forests of India, Nepal and Bhutan"1. The book covers ~1200 equations on nearly 222 species.

There are two types of equations used in the book. One types of equations have tree-height as a separate parameter and called general volume equation. These can be applied to a larger geographic area of the species. The second types of equation are called local volume equation and these just require diameter at the breast height as the only measurement.

General Volume Equations

Contains equations of type:

Where

V: Tree Volume is in $m^3$

D: Diameter at Breast Height (1.37 m from the ground level) (meter)

H: Tree Height (meter)
