<h1>Installation Instructions</h1>
<p>This page will guide you through the basics for how to install the modulation application on your
modulation device and the graphical interface using a Qt environment.
It might be useful to visit the links posted on the <a href="externalref.html">External Links Page</a> to learn how to best minimize the latency
of the audio played.</p>
<h2>Modulation Application Installation</h2>
<p class="warning">Installation of this component must be done on a Linux compatible machine (i.e Raspbian on a Raspberry Pi).</p>
<ol>
<li>Clone the <a href="https://github.com/pmeas/pmeas-backend">Modulation Application Respository</a> to a local directory.</li>
<li>Run the install script sudo ./install.sh to download all necessary dependencies and register the service with systemd.</li>
<li>Plug the instrument to be played into a USB port on the modulation device.</li>
<li>Plug the speaker that will be used to project the modulated audio into the 3.5mm jack port on the modulation device.</li>
<li>Start the PMEAS service by calling sudo systemctl start pmeas.service.</li>
<li>To enable the optional loop machine functionality, follow the instructions outlined in the <a href="gpioinstall.html">GPIO Installation Guide</a>.</li>
</ol>
<h2>Graphical Interface Installation</h2>
<p class="tip">Make sure you have Qt already installed before attempting to install the interface. Download it from <a href="https://www.qt.io/">here</a>.</p>
<ol>
<li>Clone the <a href="https://github.com/pmeas/pmeas-frontend">Graphical Interface Respository</a> to a local directory.</li>
<li>Download and install all of the Necessary Dependencies.</li>
<li>Open up the Qt Creator program from your system application menu; start menu on windows, linux application menu, etc.</li>
<li>Click on the File->Open toolbar menu, and locate your downloaded project repository folder.</li>
<li>Open the pmeas-frontend.pro file.</li>
<li>Click on the bottom left run button, it is a green play button.</li>
<li>The frontend should compiler and run.</li>
<li>Wait for the application to launch.</li>
</ol>
