Maps

  1. Previously Coordinate Map and Tile Map, names and functionality changes with releases
  2. New versions are often breaking the previous visualization
  3. Possibly the most interesting visualization
  4. Requires mappings to be configured with geo_point type
  5. Install sample data provided by elastic by navigating to your instance http://ipaddress:5601
  6. Navigate to the Kibana home page
  7. Select Add Data -> Sample Data
  8. Wait for the upload to complete
  9. Select Sample web logs
  10. Select Visualize Library on the left menu and then look for a sample visualization of type Map
  11. Explore the behaviour and, somewhat, confusing configuration options
