if the beginning was data.. raw formless, bits scattered on a hard drive

and the data had form, rows and columns contain numbers on other things that we call symbols

and the rows and columns formed tables of data

and each table discussed related concepts

and the rows had distances between them (and some were much closer to their neighbor than the others)

so we read the data and found that broke into many tables (based on classes or clustering)

and we found the data had natural divisions that leads to smaller tables that we can process faster

so from the raw formless data, structures emerged, beautiful to behold, simple to understand
