I've recently tested from Debian to Android, not Android to Debian. I assume the slowness is because of the TURN fall-back, as the bandwidth checks out.
All devices are connected via WiFi to the same LAN. The router/AP hybrid is configured to serve 2.4GHz and 5GHz on the same SSID, so maybe this is related? All devices are close enough to the router to use the 5G band, so this shouldn't be an issue.
I haven't tested self-hosted deploy, only the official website
