Image automatically converted to png after slicing bmp image

After slicing a 4K .bmp image into 16 tiles with slice() method, the saved images are in .png, which causes a loss in quality.

Is there a way to save it in the same extension?

Passing format='bmp' should do the trick. Currently the default output format is png - carrying through the original file format by default would be a nice enhancement. Tagging for the backlog.
