We have multi arch docker images (AMD+ARM).

It's needed to build/push them on a separate runner with a separate tag, then push a new combined image tag from those previous tags using https://github.com/Noelware/docker-manifest-action

This means we have the following versions: x.y.z-N and for each runner a x.y.z-N-<runner>

Renovate now tries to update current x.y.z-N to x.y.z-N-<runner>, which alters the version format, even though the new version is also available in x.y.z-N format.

Is this intended?

It's expected if you configured your versioning for that image wrong

Got it. I assumed loose versioning would pick the closest match.
