Manually run tlmgr install

Description

I’d love a way to easily install missing LaTeX packages directly from Quarto, without having to manually find and run tlmgr.

Why?

I write in Japanese and need the haranoaji package for LaTeX, but Quarto can't install it automatically because the error message isn’t typical. I’m also not sure if haranoaji is the only missing package.

Right now, installing LaTeX packages is tricky because:

1. The TinyTeX path is hard to find (I know quarto check shows it, but still…).
2. There's no simple way to install missing packages directly from Quarto.

I do know a way to do it manually, but it’s not straightforward, and I imagine others might struggle with it too.

Sorry if there’s already an official way to do this! I couldn’t find one, but I’d appreciate any pointers if it exists.

How did you install TinyTex?

That exactly what Quarto is doing right now, i.e., detecting missing packages and installing them.
Any small reproducible example where you don't see the automatic installation?

I have the same font-not-found error with tinytex and rmarkdown.

So as I expect, this is an error in the log that is unknown by TinyTeX and thus also Quarto (we try to sync special cases about log parsing).

The following lines indicate that the HaranoAji fonts are missing,

We can probably use this, and indicate to use haranoaji. I'll look at it. Thanks !

Once solved there I'll adapt our missing font detection in Quarto accordingly.

In next quarto version, haranoaji should be installed after missing font has been detected correctly. Thanks again for the report ! You helped us fix this in both Quarto and tinytex
