천하제일 예술대회 공지 (Announcement for Art Competition)

여러분 안녕하세요.

AI 가 그림 대회에서 상을 받았다는 소식을 들은지도 어느덧 몇 년이 지났습니다. 그림 뿐만 아니라 그 동안 여러 예술 분야에서 AI의 발전이 눈부셨는데요. 이제는 누구나 이런 도구를 이용하면 손쉽게 예술 작품을 만들 수가 있는 시대가 왔습니다.

이 말인 즉슨, 예술적 능력이 그다지 탁월하지 않은 사람들도 (주로 저 같은 일반 공돌이) 본인의 아이디어를 멋진 예술 작품으로 승화시킬 수 있다는 뜻입니다. 그래서 준비했습니다. "천하제일 예술대회: 당신에게 X란?"

절차

• 수업시간에 배운 어떤 개념 X를 선정하세요. 예를 들어, 암호, 무결성, 프로그램 분석 등 무엇이든 좋습니다.
• 본인이 선정한 개념을 예술 작품으로 만드세요. 그림, 노래, 시 무엇이든 좋습니다. 아래 나열된 AI 도구들을 사용해도 좋고, 본인이 직접 해도 좋습니다.
  • DALL-E
  • Bing Image Creator
  • Adobe Firefly (using KAIST Adobe cloud account)
  • Suno
• 여러분의 작품을 게시판에 제출하세요. "Art competition"이라는 란을 이용하시면 됩니다.
  • 게시물 템플릿에 있는 설명란을 채워주세요. "For me, [the chosen concept] means [the sentence you used to generate the picture using AI]".
  • 작품에 대한 간략한 설명을 세 문장이내 영문으로 적어주세요.
• 참고로, AI는 만능이 아닙니다. 여러분이 애매한 입력을 건네면 모호한 결과물을 내놓을 겁니다. 고품질 작품을 얻기 위해서는 본인의 설명을 더 갈고 닦으세요. "프롬프트 깎는 장인"이 되기 위해서는 개념을 깊고 명확히 이해해야 합니다.

평가

• 각 학생들은 한 달에 한 번 작품을 제출할 수 있습니다. 기한은 매달 말 일까지 입니다.
• 평가는 조교들과 제가 합니다만 학우들의 반응도 고려됩니다. 따라서 모두들 적극적으로 참여해주면 좋습니다.
• 구체적인 평가기준은 다음과 같습니다:
  • 아름다움
  • 창의성
  • 수업 관련성
• 마지막 수업시간에는 시상식이 있고 그때 수상자를 발표하겠습니다. 수상자들은 아래와 같은 보너스 점수를 부여합니다.
  • 금상 (1 명): 3% bonus point
  • 은상 (2 명): 2% bonus point
  • 동상 (무제한): 1% bonus point

Hello everyone,

It has been several years since we first heard the news that AI won a prize in an art competition. The progress of AI in various art forms has been remarkable since then. Now, we are in an era where anyone can easily create art using these tools.

This means that even those (like myself) without exceptional artistic abilities can transform their ideas into beautiful art. So, here is what we have planned: “Art Competition: What Does X Mean to You?”

Instruction

• Choose a concept X that you learned in class. For example, "cryptography", "integrity", "program analysis", or anything else.
• Create an art piece based on the chosen concept. You can make a drawing, a song, a poem, or anything else. You can use the AI tools listed below, or create it yourself:
  • DALL-E
  • Bing Image Creator
  • Adobe Firefly (using KAIST Adobe cloud account)
  • Suno
• Submit your artwork on the bulletin board. Use the section labeled “Art competition.”
• Fill in the description field in the post template with: “For me, [the chosen concept] means [the sentence you used to generate the picture using AI].”
• Write a brief description of your work in English, within three sentences.
• Note that AI is not perfect. If you provide vague inputs, you will get ambiguous results. To obtain high-quality work, refine your descriptions. To become a “prompt crafting master,” you need to understand the concept deeply and clearly.

Evaluation

• Each student can submit one piece of artwork per month. The deadline is the last day of each month.
• Evaluations will be done by the teaching assistants and me, but student reactions will also be considered. Therefore, active participation is encouraged.
• Specific evaluation criteria include:
  • Aesthetic
  • Creativity
  • Relevance to the course
• At the end of the semester, there will be an award ceremony, and winners will be announced. Winners will receive the following bonus points:
  • Gold medal (1 winner): 3% bonus point
  • Silver medal (2 winners): 2% bonus point
  • Bronze medal (unlimited): 1% bonus point
