If i have unmanaged scope then am i using finOps hub ?

trying to clarify if i have MCA (or unmanaged scope) then i just setup the cost jobs to land data in the storage account and connect the available PBI reports ?? Does the finOps hub only work with managed scope ?? and if yes then do i need any of the rest of the resources created ?

Yes, FinOps hubs supports manually created exports for both MCA or EA. Managed exports are only supported for EA due to gaps in Cost Management access. Once they resolve that, managed exports should work for MCA as well.

i am wondering what is different if the same exports are at the storage and connected to provided PBI reports vs data that is processed via the ADF pipelines in the finhubs deployment for the EA deployment. I am trying to figure out what we are missing by not making use of the ADF pipelines etc since we under MCA have to connect directly to the cost exports.

Managed exports are a feature of FinOps hubs. If you're using PBI against raw exports in storage, then you will always need to create and manage exports yourself since the hubs pipelines aren't running to manage the exports for you.
