Enchilada Sauce

The kind you get in the store is full of oil and fat. This tastes a lot better, and is good for you, too.

5 Servings


  • 1 16 oz. can of tomato sauce
  • 1 6 oz. can of tomato paste
  • 1 16 oz. can of water (use the tomato sauce can)
  • 2 1/2 T chilli powder
  • 1 T garlic, minced
  • 1 T dehydrated onion (chopped, not powdered)
  • 1/4 C lime juice
  • 1/3 C cilantro (chopped)
  • 1 T basil (dried)
  • Salt & Pepper (to taste)

Combine everything except the salt and pepper in a small saucepan. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 2-3 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper
