Use web panorama viewer for the 360 thumbnails #27
Comments
@Frooxius This is something that has been on my mind for a few months after seeing the images distorted due to the fact that they are 360 images. I started looking around for something to reproduce the looks from CSS knowledge to available frameworks. Recalling the conclusion I had drawn to, a framework for this will help with this as building this from scratch will be a lot work. |
@stiefeljackal Yeah I definitely agree, just integrating existing web library/component is probably best approach at the moment. I don't do as much web development, so I'm not super familiar with what's available. I've seen a bunch floating around and used on a bunch of websites. |
@Frooxius I can see what I can do. Feel free to assign to me; I can look at this over the weekend since this is something I would like to add. |
@stiefeljackal Thank you! There's no rush on this by the way! I just wanted to write this down so I don't forget it. |
Not a problem! I do the same as well. |
From yesterday, I found the @photo-sphere-viewer/core package that I think will work well for the World and Session pages. I will create a draft PR as soon as I am available. |
Will wait for #29 to complete since that will impact how this is added. |
Dang this was bugging me for long enough that it got to the point where I was going to work on adding it myself but I see the issue has already been created and claimed |
I think a good addition for the preview page might be to integrate a web panorama viewer to display the thumbnails, rather than have them just raw and distorted.
Something like this for example: https://pannellum.org/ (don't have to use this specific one, it was just the first Google search result I found for illustration purposes)
It's nothing urgent, but just wanted to note it here in case someone would like to pick this up!
