@jbodner09 the crash that led to a corrupted save and prompted the creation of this issue happened on a version of SoH that already had that implemented. |

it just changed saving to write to a temp file first and then overwrite the save file, i don't think #3376 is doing what you are hoping for |

Discord support thread titled "Computer Crash during randomizer, game won't launch"
I had a hard crash of my PC which threw me into the BIOS while playing a randomizer as I opened a chest. The save file became completely corrupted, thus losing all progress.
An easy mitigation to the complete destruction of a save is to implement a backup system where the savefile is copied and compressed on an interval. It can be configured by the user to "Backup every X minutes", or "Limit backup dir to X MB".
